Greenbelt Initiative

IMG_04122014_152511What is Ontario’s Greenbelt?

The Greenbelt Fund  is a charitable grant-making organization that works with local food businesses and farmers to help keep Ontario farmers successful, strengthen local economies, and protect and grow on the Niagara Escarpment and Oak Ridges Moraine.

Cookin’ Greens & Ontario’s Greenbelt

As part of a new initiative, The Toby Brand has partnered with the Greenbelt Fund.

Now, in addition to current sources of supply, we are able to procure and process local Ontario produce destined for various Cookin’ Greens products. In partnership with the  Ontario’s Greenbelt Fund a ‘farm-to-freezer educational conduit’ is being developed. We help the consumer to better understand not only the process and the superiority of fresh-frozen versus fresh vegetables, but also the value-added innovation behind this technology.

We are reigniting what the IQF process was ultimately trying to achieve — superior quality product that retains significant attributes — taste, texture & nutritional value. Thanks to the support of the Greenbelt Fund we are able to bring the flash-frozen story closer to home. We are proud of our farm-to-freezer stories as they continue to evolve to not only meet consumer demand but also contribute to Canada’s economy.

This project has been very rewarding; we love our product lines and hope you do, too!
